My Review:

I listened to this book on Audible and I must say that it was delightful.  It was a sweet southern comfort mystery that began with Elise returning home after a ten year marriage that didn't work out.  Returning to the small town of Angel Lake, she encounters old friends and small-town gossip.

When the philandering car salesman in town suddenly ends up dead, and fingers are beginning to point to her best friend Lavina, Elise begins doing a bit of detective work on her own to clear her friends name.  And of course she butts heads with the small town police detective who seems to have his eye on her for more than just police business.  There were lots of twists and turns and we were kept guessing throughout most of the book.

I love a who-dunnit and this one was fun.  My only problem was with the constant mention of Elise's Fitbit.  Gosh!  Enough is enough!  It was great that she was trying to better herself and achieve her goal of running a half-marathon, but dang!  Can't she run without constantly checking the Fitbit?

I do like this author's writing style and the story was fun and full of mystery with a hint of romance.  I'm just hoping that before I read Book #2 in this series, her Fitbit battery has died or it has fallen off her wrist into a swamp and was eaten by an alligator.

My Rating:

About the Author:
CeeCee James is a wife, mom of four kids and pet mom to two mini-dashchunds. She's always loved to read and always had her nose in a book-- getting her into trouble at school when she'd sneak it in her text books.

Writing has been a life long passion. Her first works were published in middle school and she won several short story and poetry competitions through out her life. Her published works include the Angel Lake Cozy Mystery series, nonfiction Ghost No More, and Wrecked and Yours, a sweet romance series. She loves writing about love, humanity's struggles and the celebration of life. Sometimes there is beauty even in the chaos of a messy moment. For her, writing is about taking time to savor those moments.
