#SCBL2017 - Space Coast Book Lovers 2017

Rockets Above Us, Beaches Beside Us,
and A Book in our Hands...

Yes!  That was the Space Coast Book Lovers 2017 Convention which was held on June 1st thru 4th in Cocoa Beach, Florida.  A great event put on by some pretty fantastic people like Teri Dees Edney, Robbie Cox, and more!  My only regret was that I was unable to attend the entire convention (maybe next year?)

I did run into some amazing authors, some I knew previously, and some new-to-me.  So many talented authors in one room!  It was mind-boggling!!  Here are just a few:

USA Today bestselling author Kerry Adrienne is one of the dearest authors I know.  Not only is she an extremely talented author, she doesn't think twice about helping out other people in the industry.  A terrific lady!  And she has a panther chameleon named Yoda.  How cool it that!!

In addition to being an author, she’s a college instructor, artist, costumer, editor, and bad guitar player. Recently, she adopted the sweetest tiger named Rajah at a local tiger sanctuary and is training to educate people about conservation of the species, feed the animals at the sanctuary, and make enrichment items for wild cats big and small.

Her books are too numerous to mention, but a couple of my favorites are Waking the Bear and Pursuing the Bear.  For a free book, and the latest news (and contests) be sure to sign up for Kerry's newsletter at http://kerryadrienne.com/newsletter/.

Originally from Burleson, Texas, Julie Morgan now lives in central Florida with her husband and daughter.  Julie is a multi-award winning, international bestselling author and an all-around fun lady!  I've reviewed several of her novels here on The Novel Lady blog and although she has a variety of books, my personal favorites are her Special Ops series that include Delta Force and Sniper.

Like a little steampunk?  Try her Deadly Alchemy series.

Oh!  And we both drink wine while reading.  And no, we did not both plan to wear red that day.

Living in Florida, my attention was drawn to a Facebook post by Chrys Fey mentioning that June 1st was the first day of hurricane season.  Why not check out her book Hurricane Crimes?  Sounded intriguing... so I did!  Loved it!  My review will be posted here on The Novel Lady in a few days.

Then... there she was!  Chrys Fey was there at Space Coast Book Lovers.  So of course I had to go meet her and let her know how awesome I thought she was!  I'll be checking out more of her books in the future.

I didn't get a picture of Tawdra Kandal, but I did get a picture of her frog.  However, when kissed (the frog, not Tawdra) it does not turn into a prince.  But that's okay.  At this stage of my life, I prefer the frog.

Tawdra writes romance in all forms.  Her latest book, Fifty Frogs, will be released on June 27, 2017.  But if you can't wait and want to read one of her books now, you're in luck!  Her Kindle version of Best Served Cold is currently available free on Amazon.  I have already downloaded it, so watch for a review from me soon!

The things you learn at an event like this can knock you over.  In addition to providing the sweet southern treat of Moon Pies, I learned that Joan Hazel, in addition to being an accomplished actress and vocalist, is also a Reiki Master.  That is too cool!

She is also the author of The Last Guardian and Burdens of a Saint.

Look who else I spotted here at SCBL!!  Evelyn Lederman, also known as "the hat lady" or "the lady in purple", is an amazing author as well as a fun person.  I ran into her again last month at an event in Boca Raton.  I reviewed one of her YA books, Selected,  here on The Novel Lady a few months ago.  Now I'm more than ready to read one of her more adult books.  I have The Chameleon Soul Mate on my To-Read list.  By the way, it is on Kindle Unlimited for free right now.

And if you're a subscriber of Kindle Unlimited, you've hit the jackpot with Christine Alvarez.  She has several of her highly rated paranormal and dark romance novels available right now.  Just keep in mind that Christine's books are not for the faint of heart!  They can be exciting and wild!

Her guilty pleasures are Dr. Pepper and chocolate, both of which are at her side when she's writing!  How she stays so slim and trim is beyond me!  Must be from chasing around her four little hoodlums (as she calls them).

It was great seeing you again Christine!

And if you're a fan girl of Robbie Cox's Fangirls, The Collection, Boxed Set is also available on Kindle Unlimited right now.  Looks like a good deal to me!

When he is not writing, Robbie Cox can be found on his back porch enjoying a cigar, a scotch, and a good story. He derives pleasure from his large family and his crazy group of friends who provide the inspiration for his blog The Mess that Is Me.

He is the author of the Urban Fantasy series, The Warrior of the Way, along with the paranormal series, The Witches of Savannah. His Contemporary Romance series includes The Rutherford Series, The Harper Twins, and the Fangirls series.

Melanie Karsak was handing out brains at SCBL.  Yes, I said brains.  I brought some home for my husband (wink).

Are you into zombie apocalypse?  Then check out The Harvesting series by Melanie Karsak.  So many 5-star ratings!

NYT and USA Today bestselling author Melanie Karsak is also the author of The Airship Racing Chronicles and The Celtic Blood Series. A steampunk connoisseur, zombie whisperer, and heir to the iron throne, the author currently lives in Florida with her husband and two children. She is an Instructor of English at Eastern Florida State College.

There were many, many more fantastic authors at SCBL.  It was a fabulous event and I hope to see many of these same people at events in the future.

Happy Reading (and Writing!)
Scherry
