My Thoughts:

Although this book, set in the 1870's, was described as Christian Historical Fiction, it was not filled with scripture nor did it play out as most of the Christian novels I have read.  It was a romance novel without the sex.  And a very good romance novel I must add!  This is the first book in the Irish Angel series, but definitely won't be the last one for me.

The story line was excellent, starting with Lovie Lane's childhood in New Orleans where she and her sisters were sent to live with their uncle and his wife after Lovie's parents died. The uncle sends the two younger girls to an orphanage and sells the two older girls, Lovie and her sister Megan, to a brothel.  Somehow Lovie endures her years in forced prostitution and manages to become very wealthy.  She moves to a small town in Texas, changes her name to Laura Foster and becomes known as a respectable wealthy widow, a member in good standing with society, and owner of a boarding house.  Then she meets Brand McCormick, the town's new minister.  Life gets complicated.

This book was well-written, enduring and inspirational.  I loved it and look forward to the next book in this series.
