About the Book:

Only in the darkness can vengeance thrive…
It's been a month since Kayla, a headstrong ruin rat, and Carl, an OmniLab trader, returned to the surface. After she helped to restore control of the towers to those who would look after the best interests of the people, she'd found herself irrevocably bonded to Alec, the new co-leader of the High Council.
Although her heart belongs to Carl, she finds it difficult to resist the strange bond between her and Alec. Caught between learning how to handle her new emerging abilities, mysterious earthquakes, and a strange group seemingly intent on targeting OmniLab, Kayla is once again swept up in events that threaten to change the entire future of the towers.

My Review:

Okay.  I just couldn't wait.  After reading BENEATH THE FALLEN CITY, the first book in the Omni Towers series, I simply HAD to read this second book.  And I was definitely NOT disappointed. Everything I loved about the first book was back again in this second book, and now I cannot wait to read the third book in this series!  Although this author did an excellent job of bringing the reader up to date without repeating too much, it would probably be a good idea to read Book #1 of this series before reading SHADOW OF THE COALITION (Book #2).

Shadow of the Coalition starts off with Kayla back in the ruins, but what she finds this time may have an impact on the future survival of everyone, both on the surface and in the Towers.  Although Kayla is concerned about being in the close vicinity of Alec again, she and Carl find it necessary to travel back to the Towers. Kayla's concerns nearly explode when she's alone with Alec. I love the natural chemistry that sparks between Kayla and Carl and yet I'm still fascinated with that bond she has with Alec.

Some fascinating new characters and a whole lot of intrigue are introduced in Shadow of the Coalition and Jamie Waters did an excellent job developing these new characters while keeping this reader glued to her seat with all the action going on. Wow! More twists and turns and action and hot romance! I'm hoping to see more of these new characters in her next book. One thing is for certain... these books are not predictable.  You never know what is going to happen next. But whatever it is, you can be assured that this author will make it flow together into a storyline that will leave you wanting more.  This series simply demands to be made into a movie!  Fans of Firefly and The Hunger Games will definitely agree with me!

My Rating:
